CIM Press Study 2022: Metro achieves strong performance
The Metro newspaper strengthens its position in the Belgian media landscape. This is what the new press audience study published by the CIM reveals. As the new figures show, the Metro newspaper is read daily by 807,770 readers, thus maintaining its position in the top 3 (Paper + Digital).
Exclusive readers
The study confirms that almost half of the Metro readers do not read other Belgian newspapers: 328,500 Metro readers are exclusive readers (Paper + Digital). Metro also remains the leader in the Brussels-Capital Region + the two Brabant with 345,930 daily readers (Total Brand).
Young Active Urban
The average age of the Metro reader is 45, making it the country’s youngest newspaper. Metro is therefore also the most selective newspaper on the young active urban target group and confirms its expertise in this target group. Furthermore, 59% of Metro readers are professionally active and 73% are Main Shoppers.
Metro innovates and leverages transformation
Although the Covid crisis has led to new habits, the Metro readers remain loyal to their newspaper. Despite the pandemic, Metro’s distribution has remained excellent, with a pick-up rate of over 98%.
Early October, the free newspaper Metro took another step in its transformation to strengthen its positioning on the young active urban target group. With a distribution of 150,000 copies per day, Metro is published in print on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
Metro is proud of the results obtained and would like to thank its readers for their enthusiasm and trust.
